CMS Expands on Plans to Increase Oversight in Nursing Homes

Last April, CMS announced a five-part strategy to increase safety and quality in nursing homes. Their five goals are:

1: Strengthen Oversight

2: Enhance Enforcement

3: Increase Transparency

4: Improve Quality

5: Put Patients over Paperwork

Seema Verma, Administrator of CMS, is writing a five part series on the changes CMS is working to implement. All providers, not just nursing homes, should take notice. CMS has been working to increase oversight and reporting requirements for years, and shows no signs of slowing down. Ms. Verma has posted the first article in her five part series, discussing increased oversight through changes to the survey process. Click here to read the article.
