Anthem, Inc. has announced that it will change its name to Elevance Health, Inc. (NYSE Ticker Symbol – ELV) effective June 28, 2022.
Elevance Health states that their new name is “the combination of elevate + advance to convey our commitment to innovation and our pursuit of moving health forward.” There are no organizational or leadership changes as a result of this name change.
There is no impact to health plan member benefits, enrollment, or ID cards as a result of the name change from Anthem, Inc. to Elevance Health. Elevance Health’s affiliated health plans will continue to operate as they do today. Provider agreements are held by these affiliated health plans. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans will still carry the Anthem name per a statement on Elevance Health’s website.
Even though there may not be an immediate change to your patients’ insurance, it is always a good practice to check and verify that is the case before services are provided.
