CMS has published the April 2021 durable medical equipment, prosthetics and orthotics (DMEPOS) fee schedule with new rates for Oxygen products, effective April 1, 2021. Unlike most rate adjustments, the updated rates were determined without consideration for “budget neutrality,” a clause for most rate adjustments and payment models that requires Medicare spending to remain flat. Thanks to this change, payment for oxygen products is increasing by at least five percent across the country, and in some cases much more.
